We started as an import and export company for pulp, paper and packaging and have been owner-managed ever since.
The company was founded by Gustav Schürfeld in Hamburg on July 1, 1937. Over time, the classic trading business developed into a modern investment company. Today, we own substantial stakes in both listed and independent medium-sized companies. We have remained true to our origins in the paper and packaging industry. At the same time, we are expanding our business activities to other industries, innovative start-ups and ideas that inspire us.
With partner companies, we are connected not only by mutual profit, but also by working on the future.
We see participation in a company as teamwork. Because we grow when we help others to be successful. We thus contribute our extensive entrepreneurial experience and our understanding of medium-sized structures and ways of doing business. Because knowledge becomes more when it is shared.
Our foundation is committed to the common good. That is important to us.
The Gustav and Catharina Schürfeld Foundation has been involved in charitable projects since 1977. Our goals are to support others and to express our solidarity with people. We support art and the preservation of historical monuments, science and environmental protection, youth care and welfare, as well as research and vocational training in the pulp and paper industry.
