For us, typically Hanseatic means: being committed to the public good, supporting others, and expressing our bond with people. These are precisely the aims pursued by the Gustav and Catharina Schürfeld Foundation since its inception in 1977.
The foundation was named in honor of our company founder Gustav Schürfeld and his wife Catharina Schürfeld, who was also a partner in the company for many decades.
The main priorities
of the foundation are:
promoting art and historic preservation
promoting research and vocational training in the pulp and paper industry
promoting environmental protection
promoting youth care and youth welfare
Examples of the diverse range of projects include:
Bucerius Law School
Supporting the “Joachim Herz Programme” at the Bucerius Law School: highly qualified international university graduates receive scholarships for the “Master of Law and Business” qualification
paper making school
Supporting a paper making school

Since it was founded, members of the Schürfeld family have been active on the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, which means that the foundation is always guided by the family tradition.
