Company

Hanseatic is as Hanseatic does.

The Schürfeld Group is an owner-operated, medium-sized corporate group that has been committed to traditional Hanseatic values for more than 80 years. As a modern holding company, today we own a clear majority interest in the special paper manufacturer Drewsen, a company in Lachendorf which was founded in 1538, as well as several percent of the share capital of the publically listed surface specialist Surteco SE and a third of the All4Labels Group in Witzhave, the third-largest label manufacturer in the world. Our investments are characterized by reliability, openness, and fair partnership.

The company was founded on July 1, 1937 by Gustav Schürfeld as a traditional Hanseatic import/export company for pulp, paper and packaging. His son Jens Schürfeld continued to manage the corporate group until 2015: In keeping with his philosophy of decentralized organization, today we remain firmly rooted in Hamburg and, through our holdings, at home around the world.

Shared growth.

We believe in long-term partnerships – in both good times and bad. That is why our investments are based not only on capital and actively taking responsibility, but also on long-standing, personal contacts.

Our investment portfolio has grown organically over time. Today, the Schürfeld Group’s investments generate more than EUR 1.5 billion in unconsolidated turnover per year. This success is attributable to more than 12,000 dedicated employees worldwide – and our focus on traditional Hanseatic values.
